Last year, a Boston Teamsters union adamantly dismissed reports (“fiction at best”) that they went full Jimmy Hoffa on the Top Chef crew and intimidated them while they were filming season 12. But it looks like that will now be for a court to decide, because five of them have finally been indicted on extortion charges.

The mess started last August when the crew claimed everyone involved with the show, judges included, had endured “a gauntlet” of sexist, racist, and homophobic slurs because Top Chef had hired some nonunion workers. Members of Teamsters Local 25 also reportedly slashed 14 of the crew’s tires. In her statement, Carmen Ortis, the U.S. Attorney prosecuting the case, referred to the intimidation as “old school thug tactics” that reflect “poorly on our city.”
