As earlier reported, the L.A.-based Kor Group has taken over the Renoir Hotel at 7th and Market, which closed for business last month and is undergoing a major renovation. Along with the closure, the temporary ground floor Rio Grande bar had to close as well. Kor, headed by developer Brad Korzen, is most known for their Viceroy Hotels in L.A., Miami, New York, and Palm Springs, and for their magazine-worthy designs by Korzen’s celebrity designer wife Kelly Wearstler. The new, as yet unnamed hotel, will be designed by Wearstler, and “will be very different from anything she has designed before and very different from anything else in San Francisco,” as the Business Times reports. And in addition to ground-floor retail space (which may include a restaurant), there will be a huge, “4,500-square foot rooftop bar with 360-degree views.” There aren’t any renderings, or a projected opening date just yet, but stay tuned.
