Three-year-old InnerFog Wine Bar (545 Irving at 7th) in the Inner Sunset suffered a setback in March when a pipe burst in the building causing severe water damage, and forcing the place to close. The bar reopened this week, and as ciccerone and beer consultant Rich Higgins tells us, owner John Nettesheim "capitalized on the opportunity to renovate by installing a draft system that will allow him to pour six craft beers, one white wine, and three red wines, all at the proper temperatures and in the proper glassware." He also hired Higgins to put together a sophisticated draft list, which includes Chainbreaker, a white IPA from Oregon brewer Deschutes; Speakeasy's witbier The Witness; Rodenbach Grand Cru, an easy-drinking Belgian sour red ale; and Firestone Walker's Double Jack IPA. The laid back wine bar has a family-style small-plates menu from chef Larry Piaskowy (formerly of 15 Romolo), and Higgins also spent some time with the staff training them in how to pair Piaskowy's dishes with the beers.
