Humphry Slocombe Expands to the Ferry Building

Humphry Slocombe, the quirky Mission ice cream shop that's garnered plenty of national press in its first four years of life via food mags and the Food Network, is opening a shop in the Ferry Building, in the space currently occupied by Ciao Bella. As the Scoop reports, the new ice cream shop will open in the fall (maybe by late October), and it will be in a similar vein to the 24th and Harrison flagship: "a soda shop with a darker twist," as co-owner Sean Vahey says, or "ice cream with attitude" as their Facebook profile puts it. Humphry Slocombe has regularly had a stand at the Ferry Plaza market on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but now they'll have a permanent, and highly lucrative place among the vendors inside the building. And this was, apparently, the reason they let that deal for the space next door to Trick Dog fall through. (That will soon be a Sightglass Coffee outpost.) Expect the usual array of signature flavors at the new shop, like Elvis, the Fat Years (peanut butter and banana), Secret Breakfast (bourbon and cornflakes), Government Cheese, and Jesus Juice Sorbet (red wine and Coke).
