Trueburger, the well loved and Check, Please!-approved burger spot on Grand Avenue in Oakland (near Broadway and Uptown) will be getting a second location this winter in North Oakland. Berkeleyside reports that they’ll be taking over the long vacant space once occupied by Anderson Carpet & Linoleum on Upper Broadway between 41st and 42nd, down the block from where the new Blue Bottle will be going in. We included them in our Top 50 Burgers last year, and as you may know, the business was started three years ago by two former sous chefs at Bay Wolf, Greg Eng and Jason Low, who also had worked at Jardiniere, Absinthe, and Delfina. Their burgers are straight-up, American-cheese-topped classics, a la Shake Shack or In-N-Out, using house-ground Angus beef, and they’re damn cheap, with a basic burger starting at $5.15.
