Is Masala Cuisine the Best Indian Food in the Bay?

Chow alerted us a while back to four-year-old Masala Cuisine (7912 International Boulevard), a primarily takeout spot in a gritty part of East Oakland with just two tables. It’s owned and run by Rooplal and Sushil Masih, a couple married for 46 years who do all the cooking together, preparing everything to order for each customer. Luke Tsai then did a review last month for the East Bay Express, noting some excellent butter chicken and sarson ka saag, as well as the fried chicken and catfish on the menu (a nod to the demands of the neighborhood), and saying it’s “a shame, really, that anyone in the East Bay who loves Indian food would miss out on this gem.” Now the Bold Italic gets in on the game, calling it authentic and “sooo good.” Obviously, there’s more to do than just taco trucks the next time you’re on International Boulevard.
