Old Man Winter still might have one last wallop to deliver to us this week before blowing out for the season, but even the threat of frigid rain and snow won’t keep newly opened shop The Igloo from serving up frozen goodies. According to Naked Philly, the frozen yogurt joint just started doling out its brain freeze fixin’s from the long-vacant storefront at 2223 Grays Ferry Avenue — right across from the Catherine Thorn Fountain and Grace Tavern. It’s going to be open weekdays until 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. on weekends. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for cool news.

Out in West Philly, Cedar Park Neighbors gave Little Baby’s Ice Cream’s plans for a second location at 49th and Catherine streets the thumbs up. Back on Valentine’s Day the East Kensington-based ice cream start-up’s owners put out “An Open Love Letter and Letter of Intent to the Citizens of the Cedar Park Neighborhood & Surrounding West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania” that outlined its goal to establish a “Cedar Park Embassy.” It also stated that it is working with West Philly’s The Enterprise Center on the project, and has secured the funding to complete it. It seems the neighbors love them back, because they’ve sent a letter of support for Little Baby’s westward expansion to the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals.
