There's now a new bar and lounge in the upstairs portion of the former Spire space at 679 Third Street (between Brannan and Townsend), and it's called The Alchemist. As we mentioned late last year, via Ms. Tablehopper, the new bar is from Kinson Lau, formerly the manager of Gitane, and it's on the second floor above Root, a contemporary Thai restaurant that opened in November. See the cocktail menu here, which includes some twists on classic recipes with fun names like A Room With a Vieux, and Stop Fenneling Me.
Below, a slideshow of views of the new, large, lounge-y spot.
