Get excited, Western Addition! Bi-Rite Divisadero is swinging open its doors at 4 p.m. today for a four-hour soft-opening shopping event (they did one from 4 to 8 p.m. yesterday as well, leading to an immediate line outside), and they will be fully open for business Wednesday, March 13, after some final touches tomorrow. Owner Sam Mogannam was hustling about this morning, and the store is in fully stocked shape with the exception of an empty ice cream counter. Behold, our first-look photos, including a more diverse and easier-to-peruse case full of grab-and-go dinners.
Also new here is a cheese counter with cheeses that can be cut to order, and somewhat bigger refrigerator and freezer cases, allowing for things like a whole case devoted to house-made stocks.
The second store for the company, on the rapidly gentrifying Divisadero corridor, has been three years in the making. It is only about 500 square feet bigger than the original store on 18th Street, however it feels quite a bit bigger due to a wider layout.
Be advised they will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, but will open for regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., starting Wednesday. There is the possibility that those hours might extend in the future.
Bi-Rite Divisadero - 550 Divisadero at Hayes (next door to Nopa) - Opening Wednesday. Daily hours 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Softly open March 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
