Trick Dog has been on a lot of people’s minds and tongues lately, and we are willing to bet that at least one of your friends has suggested going there in the last week. You may not know that amidst all their very original mixed and bottled cocktails there is also a food menu. You eat, you see, so you can drink more.
We’ll start by saying you should start with the drinks — the bottled concoctions, especially the Buttermilk Punch, may be our favorite, but everything is wildly interesting.
But you definitely need to try the excellent, meaty, juicy Trick Dog — a burger in the shape of a hot dog that is co-owner Josh Harris’s nod to something they’ve long sold at the golf course snack shack at the Olympic Club. Chef Chester Watson is making the cylindrical burger using a mix of chuck, sirloin, and brisket, and it’s flavorful, fatty, and terrific. It’s topped with cheddar cheese, and comes on the well toasted bun with lettuce, pickles, and aioli. It is certainly one of the better drinking snacks around town, if not one of the best new burgers, period.
