Call it a Presidents’ Day Miracle: Honey’s Sit ‘n Eat, which brought the commingling of Southern and Jewish comforts to the NoLibs neighborhood way back in 2005, finally opened its long-awaited second location on the west side of South Street yesterday. The debut comes almost two years after it was first announced. It opened after 9 a.m., but going forward it will have coffee brewing and breakfast sizzling daily at 7 a.m. Like its predecessor, the new satellite location espouses a cutesy, urban homesteader vibe, with reclaimed wood, salvaged hardware store signs, and tables fashioned from old bureau drawers.

Unlike OG Honey’s, the new offshoot has soaring ceilings, and almost twice as much space, which means more seats, and more importantly, considerably more elbow room between them. The menu is essentially identical to the one at the mothership.

This week and next, the South Street Honey’s will close early; probably around 7-ish. But in weeks to come, it will begin rolling out dinner service, and stay open until 10 p.m.
