First Look at Zoe’s, a New Bistro Opening Thursday on 24th Street [Updated]

Zoe’s Bar & Restaurant (3088 24th Street at Folsom), a new French and Italian bistro headed up by a Nigerian-born chef, debuts tomorrow, December 20. It takes over the former El Mexicano bar space, and the decor has an art deco theme, as you can see from the photos, and the logo. Chef Anu Adeboje hails from Chicago, where she grew up cooking from a young age in her family’s restaurant business. She’s been doing pop-ups around San Francisco recently, and you can see her full Zoe’s menu below — you can also check out some preview shots of her her food here.

There’s a full bar featuring classic and specialty cocktails like the Blood and Sand, a Margarita, and a “very lower 24th street version of the Greyhound” called the Galgo. The owners are Christopher Scott Conway, who’s the managing partner, along with Shane Dalton and Joe Kaplan, who also owns El Amigo Bar at 3355 Mission. Check out our slideshow below.

This opening of Zoe’s comes just a couple weeks after we learned of some other turnover on the 24th Street corridor, with The Roosevelt (2817 24th Street) and the upcoming opening of Stuffed, the new pierogi parlor at Mission and 24th.

Starters:

Oyster shooter—Kumamoto, Grey Goose, leche de tigre

Fried calamari, piquillo pepper aioli

Poutine—truffle fries, mushroom gravy, mozzarella cheese curd

Arugula salad—with persimmon, pomegranate, goat cheese, almonds, tarragon vinaigrette

Winter squash soup, brown butter sage, walnut levain crouton

Spice rubbed beef tenderloin kebab, sweet onion, persillade, garlic crouton

Steak tartare beef tenderloin, mustard, capers, fresh quail egg

Petite basque, triple cream brie, aged chevre
House made Mary’s chicken liver pâté finocchiona, saucisson sec

Big plates:

Farro wild mushrooms risotto

8 oz. Kobe beef burger, arugula, tomato, caramelized shallots, pickle, acme bun, truffle fries, choice of cheese (gruyere, goat, blue, jack), or bacon, avocado

Bites:

Selection of house pickled cauliflowers, carrots and beets
