Dress as Your Favorite Cocktail and Other Repeal Day Events

Tomorrow night, December 5 at 8 p.m., Cantina will be celebrating Repeal Day with a Dress as Your Favorite Cocktail costume party. Some favorites from years past, as shared by owner Duggan McDonnell, include Sex on the Beach (“Hawaiian shirt, shorts and flip flops, with a two foot dildo flopping out of my crotch.”), and Captain and Coke (“pirate hat, a hook on left hand, and white powder smeared all over face”). There will be DJs from OM Records, and the $10 admission fee goes to benefit the Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail. See more event details here.

But that’s not all…

Also tomorrow, December 5, 21st Amendment (563 2nd Street) will be hosting their annual Repeal Day Parade at 4 p.m., followed by a speakeasy party with live jazz, five-cent beers, Prohibition-era cocktails, and a charity poker tournament. 1930s era costumes encouraged, and admission to the party will require a password you can find on Twitter.

AND, on Wednesday, December 6, the Boothby Center/Barbary Coast Conservancy is teaming up with the California Historical Society for an event highlighting historical libations — specifically California cocktails, both legendary and obscure. It goes from 6 to 9 p.m. at the CHS (678 Mission Street), and advance tickets are $60 and include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, entertainment, and a six-month membership to the Historical Society. Admission will be $75 at the door.
