Grub Street finds this morning that a new business is set to take over 3318 Steiner Street (at Chestnut), which until now has been the prep facility and retail café for Let’s Be Frank. The purveyor of hot dogs and sausages made from grass-fed beef and family-farmed pork tells us that they’re suffering from some “growing pains” as their cart and event business has tripled in the last few years (it’s also expanded to L.A.), and their brand new dog treats business is exploding. As Let’s Be Frank’s Larry Bain tells us, “Our primary goal right now is to develop a prep facility, and if it can also be used to serve hot franks, we will incorporate that.” So, no more Steiner shop, but he directs fans of the hot dogs to their various cart locations throughout the week, including the Warming Hut at Crissy Field, and Proxy on Octavia and Linden. See that schedule here. Meanwhile, something called Toma will be moving in at that Marina address, and we hope to have more info on that soon.
