Bruce Aidells Comes to Mijita to Celebrate His Great Meat Cookbook

Celebrated sausage mogul and Bay Area culinary figure Bruce Aidells is getting a party in his honor at Traci Des Jardins’s Ferry Building taqueria Mijita, this Friday, October 26, at 6 p.m. The public is invited but seats cost $80, and reservations need to be made via email to Amy@mijitasf.com. The party is to celebrate the publication of Aidells’s Great Meat Cookbook, a follow-up volume to his Complete Meat Cookbook, published in 2001. As the jacket copy says, things have “changed dramatically” in the world of meat in the last decade, and “Today’s shopper confronts a host of bewildering, often misleading labels [like] ‘certified organic,’ ‘humanely raised,’ and ‘vegetarian diet.’” Aidells hopes to clear all that up with this book, and gives recipes from around the world like Beef Fillet stuffed with Parmesan and Proscuitto; and Melt-in-Your-Mouth Pork Shoulder.
