The grand, upscale Vietnamese restaurant over at Ghirardelli Square, Ana Mandara, is closing at the end of this week. As the Scoop reports, after twelve years, business has been slipping and among other things, rising rent is forcing chef-owner Khai Duong to shut the doors. This news comes two years after Duong and co. closed their short-lived spinoff restaurant Pot de Pho. Duong was trained at the Cordon Bleu in Paris and opened Ana Mandara in 2000 to bring a taste of colonial Vietnam, and a fusion of Vietnamese ingredients and western technique, to a crowd of locals and Wharf tourists. It’s unclear if there will be any farewell events, but you may want to check here. [Scoop]
