Tu Lan Wants to Reopen in October, Sans Roaches

In a turn of events none of us was really expecting, vermin-drenched Sixth Street Vietnamese dive Tu Lan has managed to talk their way into a potential new permit from the health department, and hopes to reopen by October. They had their permit revoked last month after repeated and egregious infractions that included multiple appearances by roaches and employees who were never fond of washing their hands. Now, owner Anthony Nguyen and his staff will be replacing all the wooden shelves and prep areas with stainless steal, exterminating mice and other pests, and preventing further infestations. He won’t, as thought before, have to go before the Board of Appeals but will be allowed just to apply for a new permit once the work is done. [Chron, Earlier]
