Now that Yigit Pura is debuting a fanciful line of new flavors for macarons at Tout Sweet and Hannah Hoffman is reinventing the filled doughnut over at Doughnut Dolly, we thought we should alert you to another popular sweet treat that’s getting the artisanal treatment: the Rice Krispie treat. Of course we have to call them “cereal treats” now, and Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery did something similar a while back, but the maker in question here is Red Spatula, a new pop-up bakery outfit from amateur chef and Google employee Jen Lee. She makes her treats as little 2-inch balls, and has gone gourmet with flavors like miso-sesame, green tea matcha, and a coconut-cream-cheese-macadamia concoction called “island cheesecake.” Place orders here, but note that unless you’re ordering more than two dozen, you’ll have to wait until the end of the month for the next pick-up time.
