Okay, don’t get too excited … this is happening in Brooklyn. But the sole S.F. representative at this year’s Le Fooding Brooklyn Fling is Mission Chinese Food’s Danny Bowien, who has been living in New York since before opening the Lower East Side outpost of his buzz-tastic S.F. restaurant. Le Fooding, you may know, is a French food-writing concern that has always paid close attention to what’s happening in America, and positioned themselves as the sort of hipper, anti-Michelin-establishment voice for young foodie France.

For the past three years they’ve been coming to New York to host big food events each fall (see also our coverage of their SF vs. NY showdown in 2010), and this year’s is another multi-day affair featuring local and international chefs. Grub Street NY is doing a ticket giveaway for the “Luncheon in the Dust” at the Brooklyn Flea on September 23, featuring Swedish chef Magnus Nilsson (from Fäviken Magasinet) and French chef Bertrand Grébaut of Septime. And later that day, if you’re in town, you can check out the “Campfire” event featuring Bowien doing pizza mash-ups with PizzaMoto like kung pao pastrami pizza with dried red chiles and Spanish peanuts. You have until this Friday to enter and win. [Grub Street, Food & Wine]
