State Bird Provisions is Bon Appétit's Best New Restaurant

By

Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski have reason to celebrate. Bon Appétit has named the couple's Fillmore Street eatery, State Bird Provisions (1529 Fillmore), restaurant of the year. Beating out 49 new top restaurants, including SF's other extremely hyped opening of 2012, AQ, State Bird has Bon Appetit's Andrew Knowlton "clamoring for more."

While he describes the small plate, dim-style dishes as "revelations," Knowlton is surprised and ultimately impressed by the entire concept: "Traditionally speaking, it's not the food, the setting, or the experience I would have expected from a great restaurant, but it works." While Brioza and Krasinski are bound to commemorate the coveted title, the two will continue to be extremely busy what with their second restaurant, The Progress, set to open sometime in 2013.
