So, you know how Rice Broker (1058 Valencia), the temporary restaurant from Spork owner Neil Jorgenson, just closed last week? We thought this meant that the planned demolition of the building and construction of condos on the site was finally getting underway, but no. The Scoop reports that Sugoi Sushi is taking over the place and has a two-year lease. Owner Zhiliang Shen has already repainted the outside red, and says Sugoi will be more upscale and/or “amazing” sushi, because that’s what “sugoi” means in Japanese. No word yet on an opening date.
