A pair of friends, Brian Tatko and Kelton McMullen, are working on opening a bar on Market Street in the heart of the Castro called Roaring Donkey. The space they’ve got, according to a liquor license app, is a former mirror and framing shop at 2349 Market Street, and they’re buying a full liquor license. We’ve reached out to the team to find out more of the story, and will update you, but this project is likely at least several months out. It seems that earlier this summer Tatko and McMullen were eyeing a spot up at 2821 California Street (at Divis), which fell through. Meanwhile, across the street, Trigger (2344 Market Street) remains closed without any hope of reopening, despite a sign on the door that mentions they’re closed for “a few weeks” for renovations — that liquor license was sold by owner Greg Bronstein a few months back, and anyone looking to reopen that space as a bar will need to find and purchase a new one.
