Super Duper may be expanding all over the place, but the newest emerging local burger chain is Roam Artisan Burgers, which until now has had just one location at 1785 Union Street in Cow Hollow. This week they open their second spot at 1923 Fillmore Street, in the former Osaka digs (at Pine) in Lower Pac Heights, and we’ve got a sneak preview for you.

Josh Spiegelman and Lynn Gorfinkle opened Roam Artisan Burgers on Union Street two years ago with the hope of giving people the kind of bad-for-you crave-ability of a cheeseburger and fries with a little bit more health-consciousness in the ingredients. Gorfinkle is a chef and certified nutritionist, while Spiegelman has a business background and previously worked for The Okinawa Program, a subscription-based diet program and book by Mayo Clinic doctor Bradley Wilcox.

The burgers are all made with 100% grass-fed beef, free-range turkey, or all-natural bison (see the menu here), and they serve stuff like Straus Family Creamery shakes, house-made sodas, and kombucha on tap. In the fries department, they have an innovative alternative to a basket of French fries which is a “haystack” of shredded zucchini and onions fried in rice-bran oil. Also, they have regular and sweet potato fries, and if you want a selection of all three, it’s called “The Fry-fecta.” And if you want to feel a little bit healthier, you can order the Farmers’ Market Salad with a skewer of mini-burgers on top for eleven bucks.

Hours at the new location will be the same as at the other one, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
