A new Mediterranean restaurant is moving into 584 Washington, and it’s called Machka. We first heard word of it a few months back, and now it’s opening a week from Monday, on July 16. The place is owned by Farshad Owji and his wife Sibel, and they’ve hired Reynol Martinez (Globe, Papito) as chef de cuisine, and have gotten some consulting help from Jocelyn Bulow of Chez Papa fame. Signature menu items will include house-made falafel, grilled octopus, grilled kebabs, and blue cheese and chorizo-stuffed dates. The small, 32-seat dining room features a big chandelier and a communal table, and there will be sidewalk seating as well. Also, there will be a Mediterranean-focused wine list with some Turkish wines as well as California selections.

Machka - 584 Washington Street at Montgomery - Open Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., starting July 16.
