One thing there has never been much of in San Francisco proper is Filipino food, though you can find plenty of it down south at places like House of Sisig in Daly City, Patio Filipino in San Bruno, and Attic in San Mateo, and in the East Bay. Now we have Inay Filipino Kitchen, a new food-court option at the renovated Metreon which just debuted Saturday. Inay has other locations in Milpitas and Fairfield, and their menu includes standard Filipino fare like pork sisig, BBQ pork and chicken combo plates, and chicken and pork adobo, but also some more adventurous stuff. For instance, there’s dinuguan (pork blood stew), kare-kare (peanut stew with oxtail and eggplant), and something the pork fiends should be glad to chow down on before a movie: lechón kawali, which is just a pound of deep-fried pork belly served with a garlicky-sweet soy sauce called Mang Tomas All-Purpose Sauce, which is like the national condiment of the Philippines.
