This week we find the Examiner’s Jesse Hirsch up in Sausalito offering us a review of Joanne Weir’s new gringo-ish Mexican joint Copita. He says the space is warm and “handsome” and the margaritas are “full-bodied and complex,” but, “with few exceptions, the food came up short.” He says that while the ingredients may be fresh and local, the execution isn’t so hot. He finds “stiff, greasy dough” on an empanada, and the 24-hour carnitas was “a tangle of dry, overcooked pork shreds.” He can recommend the salsa and the tacos though. [Examiner]
