The service the Bay Area has been waiting for has finally arrived. Good Eggs, a new online marketplace, matches local food producers with customers in neighborhoods throughout the Bay Area, enabling them to conveniently place orders to be picked up at scheduled spots in the neighborhood or to be delivered for nominal fees.

In addition to serving as a cutting-edge online marketplace, the site features food events and farmers market listings, a lushly visual cooking blog, and a set of tools to help local farmers & foodmakers sell direct.

The site is currently focusing on just a few communities, which include the Mission, SOMA, Hayes-Haight-Nopa, Oakland, and Berkeley, but they’re gearing up for a full Bay Area launch later this year with the aim of bringing the service to other cities nationally and internationally down the road.

Our mouths are already watering at the idea of effortlessly ordering high-quality, grass-fed, pasture raised meat at $5 a pound in bulk in Mendocino County. (If only we had the freezer space.)
