The brothers Bovis, who recently conceded in their fight to keep The Gold Dust Lounge in Union Square (they’re moving the business to Fisherman’s Wharf), have another project up their sleeves, in another neighborhood. Lefty’s Fresh Spin is going to be a “hof brau express,” if you will, a spinoff of the Bovises’ other bar, Lefty O’Doul’s. serving sandwiches, soups, and salads, a la Lefty’s, out of a space most recently occupied by a liquor store at the corner of Polk and Pine. Tenderlife reports that the neighborhood association voted to restrict the operating hours of the place and make them close at midnight, thus there will be no corned beef hoagies for the drunken, huddled masses pouring out of the Hemlock and the Bigfoot Lodge at 2 a.m. But, there will be booze, and perhaps Lefty’s famous Bloody Mary will be making an appearance too.
