Craftsman & Wolves Will Open Its Doors June 16

Step right up for your Rebels Within and Devils Inside! William Werner's modern, out-of-the-box patisserie Craftsman & Wolves (746 Valencia) is opening Saturday, June 16. As mentioned previously, Werner wants the place to be a caf too, with both savory and sweet items, beer and wine (in a few months), Naivetea and Sightglass coffee. And in addition to those noteworthy muffins with secrets inside, Werner's going to be showcasing some very photogenic cube cakes like this one, which will be showing up on the birthday tables of your foodier friends soon.

The space, newly remodeled by Zack | de Vito Architecture, has 25-foot ceilings and was most recently an auto repair shop another section of the building is becoming the big new beer hall from the Monk's Kettle boys, Abbot's Cellar, which is now set for a mid-July debut. The building stands on the site of the storied Valencia Hotel, whose bottom three stories sank into liquified ground in the 1906 earthquake.

Former Quince pastry guy Werner has been working to open his place for over a year and a half now, and an original deal fell through last year amidst some disagreement with investors. At last, the world will know his pastries from more than just the Ferry Building.

In addition to the various breakfast and lunch/dinner options available for eating there, there will be a "picnic box" option available containing a small sandwich, house pickle, market fruit, and a small cake.

Craftsman & Wolves - 746 Valencia Street, between 18th and 19th - Open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; Saturdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sundays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
