Mr. Bauer’s Walnut Creek readership has been annoyed over the years that he seems not to care about them. He argues that while the town has gotten more sophisticated over time, “the dining scene has chronically lagged.” But, at last, Corners Tavern arrived, and he’s pretty into it! He likes the gastropub’s decor, calling it “quirky and wonderful,” and says the food is great too, especially the halibut with pea risotto and radish, which is “so manicured and focused it could be served at Boulevard.” Also, he says he’d be drawn from the city to have the burger again, but the service is “the one area where you know you’re still in the suburbs.” All told: two and a half stars.
