In contrast to that fascist lame-o, Neil Derry, who wants to force restaurants into posting employees’ immigration status on their doors, a newly announced pilot program has been operating in L.A. since fall that offers low-cost ($25 a month) preventative and primary health care to restaurant workers, including undocumented staff. The revolutionary program, called ROC-MD, is believed to be the first of its kind in the U.S. and could help provide clinic visits, treatments, and dental care to the city’s estimated 75,000 restaurant workers denied health care due to their immigration status.
