Faux Pas Bistro soft-opened yesterday on West Third Street with a handsome look of white tiles framing red banquettes, interspersed with antique dressers along the wooden walls. The large Spacecraft-designed space splits the difference between casual and elegant, an analogy to former J Lounge chef Oz’s menu, which finds traditional bistro grub like bouillabaisse, coq au vin, and tuna nicoise sharing the table with looser interpretations like croque monsieur-on-a-stick, “bruZZel sprouts” with applewood smoked bacon, and “mac avec cheese.” Fresh juice cocktails, in both classic and contemporary form, accompany a short selection of draft beer, while the valet comps carpooling groups of three or more. Currently, the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, with brunch coming this summer. See the full menu online via PDF.
