Today Kogi, Chego, A-Frame, and Sunny Spot shotcaller Roy Choi walks The Daily Blender through a day-in-the-life of a red hot chef, over which he discusses L.A. restaurants’ puberty phase while pulling the cover back on his forthcoming book, Spaghetti Junction. Along the way, Choi reveals that he has carved out a few hours in his trans-navigation of the city for some community outreach and is doing it, as they say, for the children.

The chef discloses that he’s currently working on developing a fruit store at South Central’s Jefferson High**, a proactive solution to combating the LAUSD’s much maligned “county food.” Choi discloses, “I’m here 9-11:30 morning every Wednesday through Friday. The store gets them to eat fruit in a delicious way, not just a healthy way. If you try to eat healthy first, it just doesn’t work.”

The chef then gets saved by the bell, keeping us in the dark as to whether he’s replaced the youths’ standard-issue Flamin’ Hot Cheetos with his chile salty-dusted pineapple pops or biting, crushed papaya salad. If that is the case, we have a feeling we’re going back to school stat!
