New Belgium Passes on Philly For Its East Coast Brewery

Word coming out of Fort Collins, CO is that Fat Tire brewer New Belgium is planning on building its East Coast brewery in Asheville, NC, not Philadelphia. While never a sure thing, “America’s Best Beer Drinking City” was in the running for the beer-maker’s satellite brewery. New Belgium reportedly picked Asheville for its deep sense of community, rich natural environment and the opportunity to revitalize a brownfield for the new facility. When it opens in 2015, the brewery will have a 400,000-barrel capacity, and will bring New Belgium beers to much of the East Coast. [Market Watch]
