That food truck depot that we told you was in the works in the vacant lot behind Ikea is beginning to shape up. Kirstin Muldoon, the real estate developer and property manager behind it checked in this morning with an update. She says the first phase of the project, which now goes by the name “The Docklands,” is in the works. Muldoon expects to have “Food Garden at The Docklands,” essentially a gravel lot with picnic tables and space for multiple trucks to park, up and running by June. She adds that several popular food trucks (she won’t divulge which ones) already expressed interest in the garden.

Should the project’s first phase gain the right traction, Muldoon plans to begin offering the space up to food trucks for overnight parking. Ultimately plans call for erecting a large commissary and community kitchen for food truck operators to clean, prep and restock their rigs.
