So maybe you weren’t asked to join Fenway’s exclusive private dining club. Neither were we. So here’s where you’ll find us before, after (and possibly during) the game.
Citizen Public House: We might not have club seats, but we can always join Citizen’s primo Whiskey Club!
Happy’s: Michael Schlow’s un-Jewish deli hasn’t opened yet, but when it does, this is where you’ll find us scarfing down pre-game pastrami sandwiches. (The Yankees fan told us that he’ll also have game-day promotions.)
The Hawthorne: Jackson Cannon is to cocktails what Ted Williams is to the Red Sox: Unimpeachable. After a few potent libations at Island Creek Oyster’s naughty neighbor, we won’t care who wins or loses.
The Lower Depths: Yep, there are tons of new and semi-new bars near Fenway. But for old-fashioned drinking (and superlative dogs), hit the Lower Depths. We’ll have a tater tot platter topped with beer cheese dip, and then we’ll pimp our Fenway Frank with potato chips. Thank God this food isn’t illegal.
Speed Dog: Best hot dogs in town. They’ll set up shop some weekdays near Fenway. They can be a bit unreliable at times, though, so best to visit their website for updates. Or, like any good Red Sox fan, just pray.
Sweet Cheeks: The meat is darn fine, but we really love the sides. Like hot broccoli cheese casserole. Nothing sops up warm beer quite like warm cheese. Has anyone had the Fat Kid’s Dream yet?
Trattoria Toscana: Why don’t more people talk about this delicious Italian restaurant? Fine by us. We’ll duck the crowds and carbo-load on gnocchi gorgonzola.
Obviously, this doesn’t even begin to touch the wide array of fine drinking and dining establishments near Fenway. If you have a longtime favorite, by all means, tell us!
