Around the new year we broke the news that some changes, including a menu and partial ownership change, were afoot at Criolla Kitchen (2295 Market Street). Now Tablehopper brings word of a name change as well. The new name will be Parish Eleven, named for the “parishes” of New Orleans and the eleven counties of the Bay Area (we suppose they’re counting Santa Cruz and Monterey?). Chef Randy Lewis has wanted all along to do something a little more high-end than what Criolla was doing, and the transition begins this Monday, March 12, with a Parish Eleven preview dinner.
The deal is $45 for four courses, and a sample of dishes includes bacon-cheese straws; chicken and waffle with Redbro chicken liver mousse; Mendocino uni bisque with wild Atchafalaya crawfish tail tapioca pudding; and cochon du lait. These Monday dinners will continue until the relaunch, set for April, and there will also be a special three-course menu available during the week for $28, in addition to Criolla’s existing menu.
The restaurant will be closed for construction on Tuesdays for the time being, and expect some more details and a firm reopening date in the coming weeks.
