Batch Busts Out a Spring Menu, Gets Primal on New Patio

Culver City’s new Batch, a joint venture between two former Church & State staffers, is generating buzz for its bourbon and bacon cocktail, recent pop-up with Dan Moody, and a burger that earned a “Best Of” win from the readers of Culver City Patch**. The restaurant has just unveiled a new covered patio today to sweep in spring, along with a new menu of seasonal dishes from chef Salvador Roldan. Come check out the new menu.

Roldan’s new items include shareable plates of Manila clams in a broth of Pabst Blue Ribbon, chorizo, tomato, and green garlic, as well as head cheese with pickled shiitakes and cornichons, plus new salads like citrus with avocado, big plates of snapper with snap pea succotash and pea nage, and halibut with ratatouille, cress, and burnt citrus.

The pizza menu is getting some new neighbors too, like an asparagus coop egg and speck pie and a mushroom, sun-dried tomato, and red onion pizza, while sides show off baby carrots with cardamom and beets with aged goat cheese. Three spring-time sweet things and new cocktails including a chocolate stout cake and drinks employing fresh grapes and cherries.

The restaurant just introduced a new covered, outdoor patio on its rear flank that fits 40 people. Designed by Studio Pali Fekete Architects, there are three custom, communal tables and benches of reclaimed woods, along with heat lamps and a happy hour each week night that finds all drinks priced at eight bucks and all eats at just four, previously offered only at the bar.

The new restaurant is also digging into a new, monthly whole animal series called “Primal Tuesday” that launches March 27, in which Roldan will take a full lamb and make different dishes out of its various extremities, offered for just $25 per person and served family-style.
