Medjool to Close Its Dining Room, Keep Rooftop Bar Open

Fast on the heels of this news yesterday regarding Medjool owner Gus Murad and the plans for the nearby New Mission Theater, the Scoop is reporting that Medjool’s ground-floor restaurant is closing as of Monday for “renovations.” It will remain closed indefinitely, and there may be an ownership change in the works — Murad put the restaurant up for sale, along with the attached hostel, a year ago. In any event, the popular rooftop bar will remain open, so no big news there.

After a kerfuffle that lasted a couple of years surrounding the permitting of the roof deck, the thing was only just approved by the Planning Commission last September.

We’re curious to see what changes are afoot for the downstairs, which shall remain closed indefinitely.
