News leaked out a week ago via Grub Street Philadelphia that French Laundry general manager Nicolas Fanucci was moving there to take over the once iconic Le Bec-Fin. Now the official word arrives from the Thomas Keller Group about Fanucci’s departure, and it sounds like he’ll be coming in at the Philadelphia fine-dining institution as a partner with longtime owner George Perrier. The news comes just two weeks after the Philadelphia Inquirer’s food critic Craig LaBan downgraded Le Bec-Fin from the paper’s top rating for the first time since the founding fathers signed the Constitution, saying it has “fallen farther and more swiftly than [he’d] ever imagined.” Looks like Fanucci’s got his work cut out for him!
