Owner Tak Matsuba has decided to sell his Japantown fusion-y restaurant Bush-Tei (1638 Post), and chef Michael Hung has left the kitchen as of yesterday, as Eater reports. The restaurant had gained some recent positive write-ups, including this one the other day from Liam Mayclem’s Foodie Chap and this September shout-out from Hung’s mentor Traci Des Jardins, but apparently it has not been enough to convince Matsuba to keep it open. He sold Bushi-Tei Bistro late last year, which has been rebranded by new owners as Mifune Bistro (1581 Webster). Hung took over at Bushi-Tei from opening chef Seiji “Waka” Wakabayashi last March. He says he now plans to do some stages around town. Sous chef Lisa Aoki will take over in the kitchen until there is a buyer. [Eater]
