The menu at Blowfish Sushi (2170 Bryant) just got a substantial rewrite courtesy of longtime chef-owner Ritsuo Tsuchida, and the interior's been updated as well. NBC's Tamara Palmer dropped in on the "intentionally upbeat and playful," sixteen-year-old restaurant and finds that for the next few weeks they're serving their namesake, the deadly fugu something they don't usually do and which only specially certified sushi chefs are even allowed to prepare (one wrong cut and, well, you could die). It's $280 for a five-course meal for two, but it's not on the regular menu and requires an advance order. Also of note: They're now doing something called a Beauty Roll with squid-ink-colored rice and scallop tempura. [Grub Street, NBC Bay Area]
