Quickly following on the news from Grub Street L.A. that chef Max DiMare has moved down there, we spoke to Wood Tavern owner Rich Wood who informs us that the restaurant has promoted Yang Ping to the lead role. “Yang’s been with Max from the beginning [in 2007],” Wood tells us. “And we think she’s absolutely capable of taking over.” He also assures that though she’s already put a few of her own spins on dishes, the seasonally changing contemporary American menu will remain largely the same.
