Just a few months after opening his first outpost in Northern California, Umami Burger owner Adam Fleischman has inked a deal for an East Bay spot, as he mentioned he might be doing last year. (He also had his sights on the Mission, you may recall.) The Oakland location, as the Scoop reports, is 2100 Franklin Street at 21st, a block off of Broadway, a couple blocks from BART, and just a block up from Plum. It’s also a bit bigger than their S.F. spot with a 100-seat capacity. We should also mention it’s just a stone’s throw from two-year-old TrueBurger, a homegrown outfit that probably won’t be too happy with news of some SoCal competition moving in.
