Richmond Residents Protest 24-Hour Jack in the Box Solely Because Drunk People Like It

Neighbors of a 24-hour Jack in the Box in the Richmond district are up in arms this week after discovering that the restaurant — which was near the scene of a recent, booze-fueled, intentional hit-and-run accident — never had the proper permit to remain open between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m. Jack in the Box is now applying to the Entertainment Commission for said permit, as Richmond SF reports, but neighbors have put together an online petition in the hope of blocking the burger joint from serving drunks their post-last-call combo meals, and serving as an ersatz after-hours venue.

The petition now has almost 400 signatures, but it needs 1,000 by January 10, the date of the Entertainment Commission hearing.

Some residents say, via the petition comments, that problems with this Jack in the Box go back 20 or 30 years. While we can’t speak to the egregiousness or mismanagement of this particular fast food establishment, we have to come out on the side of the restaurant if only because 24-hour burgers are always a good thing, and this sleepy little town of ours has way too few places where you can get food after 2 a.m. Ahem.
