Clubland-adjacent Mercury Lounge (1582 Folsom), the Filipino/pan-Asian small-plates and sweet-cocktail venue with a love for live DJs, is closing at the end of February after three and a half years in the SoMa space. The project belonged to former Poleng Lounge chef Dominic Ainza, who first opened Mercury Appetizer Bar at Lombard and Van Ness in early 2008. He later expanded to this space, the former Sneaky Tiki, and won some praise for his food from former SF Weekly critic Meredith Brody, if not for the scene. SFoodie now gets word of the closure from Ainza, who blames both the economy and the explosion of Filipino food trucks. You can still get the full dinner menu at Mercury through February 18.
