The day has arrived, and right on schedule, Dottie's True Blue Café (28 6th Street) reopened this morning in the former Passion Café space. There was no line to speak of when we stopped by around noon, but there was a butt in every seat (easily five times as many as the original location), and a three-top was told there'd be a thirty-minute wait. Guess those pancakes are enough to get people over their fears of Sixth Street!
You'll note some black-and-white photos of jazz singers and performers on the wall, including at least one Dottie (Dorothy Dandridge). These pictures were always part of the tabletops at the old location, but given all the wall space at the new location, the owners decided to blow up the photos and hang them all over. The old tables are still there, however, just in the back dining room.
And as we discussed the other day, there will be some expanded hours and some more lunch options on the way with the bigger digs, but you likely won't be seeing dinner, or happy hour on the roof terrace, any time soon. See the menu, as it stands, right here.
