20 Spot Moving Into Former Record Store on 20th [Updated]

Much like Pig & Pie (now due in March) is moving into the former Discolandia digs on 24th, another restaurant/café is set to take over an even smaller indie record shop, Force of Habit at 3565 20th Street. We see the liquor license app roll in today for something called 20 Spot (their Facebook page doesn’t give us much info), and SFist further elaborates that the owner of Force of Habit passed away last summer, and the family seems to have failed to find a buyer who wanted to keep the shop open.

Update: An anonymous neighbor who received the outreach email from 20 Spot owner Peter Goggin lets us in on a few more details. Goggin owns the building and used to live upstairs, and decided to take over the commercial space as soon as the record store closed along with a restaurant industry partner. The plan is to serve lunch and dinner, with table and counter seating, and to “use locally-sourced ingredients for a variety of inspired dishes.” Also, there will be a fireplace and a small seating area. They hope to be open by mid-spring, after making a few exterior changes to the building (thus the community outreach), and adding a small kitchen to the rear of the space. [Grub Street]
