Having taken a trip to Japan this fall with the OPENrestaurant kids, Four Barrel Coffee owner Jeremy Tooker says he’s finally become a convert to the wonders of ramen. “I didn’t understand the craze,” he tells SFoodie, “and [then some chef friends] introduced me to a few places [in Japan] that made me a believer.” He’s since returned to find that Ramen Dojo in San Mateo is the only place that comes close to authentic ramen, in his opinion, and he says, “I’m helping some guys get a place together in Oakland in the future.” We’ll let you know exactly where, and who these “guys” are, as soon as we figure it out.
