A First Look at B-Side BBQ, Now Open in Oakland

Speaking of barbecue, B-Side BBQ, the second restaurant from Brown Sugar Kitchen chef-owner Tanya Holland has just swung open its doors at 3301 San Pablo Avenue. We told you it was coming a while back, and we mentioned the opening a little over a week ago (their temporary, soft-opening hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday), but post-holiday KQED brings us an early review (they say the St. Louis ribs are “juicy and hearty,” not to mention messy), as well as a nice set of photos of the place, including a few of the specially commissioned artwork that cleverly inserts Holland and husband Phil Surkis into some Old West scenes. Look for the delayed second location of Brown Sugar Kitchen, opening at 5800 Third Street in S.F., to come along in 2012. [KQED, Earlier]
